Flip into Fun
YMCA Gymnastics is for everyone — from toddlers taking their first tumble to teens perfecting their routines. Our programs serve children from walking age through 13, offering a safe, fun, and appropriately challenging environment for every skill level. We emphasize confidence, coordination, creativity, and discipline, all developed at your child’s own pace. Whether your child is trying gymnastics for the first time or ready to compete, there’s a place for them here at the Y.

Parent & Child
Busy Bee’s are walking – 3 years old. This class is a part-structured, part-free play experience designed for parent participation. Children work on gross motor skills and are introduced to basic gymnastics movements. The class helps little ones feel comfortable in the gym while exploring movement alongside a parent or guardian.
Team Gymnastics
Our Team Gymnastics program is designed for athletes ready to advance their skills through structured training and competitive opportunities. Gymnasts as young as 5 focus on technique, strength, flexibility, and routines while building confidence, discipline, and teamwork. The competition season runs from July through June, with athletes competing in AAU and USAG programs and participating in multiple meets throughout the year. We also offer a Pre-Team class to prepare athletes for Team tryouts, which typically take place in June.
Summer Camp
Our Gymnastics Specialty Camps are perfect for gymnasts of all skill levels who want to build confidence and improve their abilities, or kids looking for a change from traditional day camp. Each week campers will engage in themed games and activities that keep the experience fun while learning techniques. Whether you’re refining your skills or trying gymnastics for the first time, this camp provides a high-energy environment to learn and grow.

FAQs
Pre-School Caregivers
We kindly ask that parents remain on-site for the duration of pre-school classes. For many children, this is their first introduction to sports, and your presence may be needed for support, including assisting with restroom use. Please note that staff members are not permitted to assist children in the restroom.
If your child requires additional support, a staff member may ask you to sit in the designated area near the office to help encourage and redirect your gymnast as needed. For the safety of all participants, please do not enter the pre-school area unless specifically asked by a staff member.
Seating Area
Caregivers are welcome to observe classes from the main lobby. We ask that you do not step onto the gym floor unless requested by a staff member, as this can create safety concerns for gymnasts and staff.
Please note: The tables located by the office are reserved for team gymnasts, team parents, and staff members only.
We do not offer make-up classes.
If your child needs help in the bathroom, you must stay in the building because we are unable to accompany them.
All staff members are trained in emergency responses and management procedures. In the event of an emergency, please ensure you are your child listen to instruction given by staff.
We are located at 205 W. Richardson Ave. We are across the street from the Public Works Center.
When you arrive, have your child place their shoes, socks, jackets, water bottle, and etc.. in a cubby. Your child’s coach will call them when class is about to begin. Parents are able to stay and watch their gymnast or check them in for class and leave. Classes are 50 minutes long and please arrive on time to pick up your child.
Leotards – Leotards are the standard gymnastics uniform. Leotards provide full freedom for movement without extra baggy clothing getting caught on equipment or slipping through the coach’s hands for spotting skills. Proper gymnastic leotards cover the full torso and do not have skirts attached. Snug shorts or leggings are optional. Gymnasts should have their midriffs covered at all times. Having a leotard that covers the gymnast’s midsection allows a safe place for coaches to spot skills without their hands slipping. Covering their midsection also eliminates the potential for injuries to their stomach skin on the bars, beams, trampolines and more.
Athletic Shorts & T-shirts That Can Be Tucked In – Athletic shorts should not have zippers, snaps, buttons or free dangling strings to avoid getting caught up on equipment. Gymnasts spend a lot of time upside down. Tucking in their t-shirt keeps it from flipping up and covering their face when inverted. It also provides a smooth torso so coaches don’t get their hands caught up or slip on the fabric when spotting skills.
Long Hair Tied Back & No Jewelry – Hair should be tied back to keep it out of the gymnast’s eyes when inverted and rolling or flipping. If you ever forget a hair tie, just ask at the front desk. We keep spares on hand for safety. Jewelry (including fitbits) should be removed before entering the gym. This keeps gymnasts from getting injured by jewelry caught on equipment or coaches. We also don’t want you to break or lose your valuables while in class.
Please call the office at 843-900-3356 to notify the Gymnastics Center. A staff member will supervise your child until you arrive. There is a fee of $2 per minute after five minutes.
Gymnasts and caregivers must inform the coach of any injuries or illness that will impact upon the child’s ability to participate prior to the starting of class. This is so all the activities will be designed for the day to prevent aggravation to the injury.
If the gymnast is sick with an infectious condition, including influenza or viral conditions, parents/guardians are asked to refrain from bringing them to class. This prevents the spread of such illness. If a gymnast becomes ill during the course of a class, they will be asked to leave the class and the caregiver will be contacted to pick them yup. If you cannot be contacted in the case of an accident, you authorize us to seek medical, hospital, or ambulance services as we see fit and you agree to all expenses involved.
Yes, we are closed on specific holidays and your session rate is prorated to reflect the closure.
