What is Togetherhood?
Togetherhood® is the YMCA’s signature program in the area of Social Responsibility. This program provides members and the community with rewarding opportunities to give back and support our neighbors through volunteer projects that address the real needs of others.
The Togetherhood Team at the Summerville Family YMCA projects include; supply drives for school supplies, Comfort Cases for Foster Children, a food drive benefiting the Lowcountry Food Bank, a pet food drive benefiting Dorchester Paws, and supplies for our “A Place to Dream Bed Project. We have also visited the Lowcountry Food Bank, and Dorchester Paws to Volunteer our time.
Togetherhood Projects
Togetherhood has adopted a program from the Augusta Georgia YMCA called “Every Child Deserves a Place to Dream”. In addition to receiving a bed, the children also receive bedding, a toy, a Bible, and food with thanks to the Lowcountry Food Bank. With the generosity of hundreds of volunteers, we have been able to put smiles on the faces of many children and change their lives.
Togetherhood has held many collection drives for needed supplies. Because of the generosity of our volunteers, we have been able to help foster families, veterans, elderly folks in our community in need, and pets!
Our Togetherhood Team has made multiple visits to the Lowcountry Food Bank. We are grateful for the work we can do with a great partner like the Lowcountry Food Bank.

All volunteers must complete a volunteer application, background screening, and Child Abuse Prevention Training.
