Y TOGETHERHOOD® | Activating People for Good
What is Togetherhood?
Togetherhood® is the YMCA’s signature program in the area of Social Responsibility. This program provides members and the community with rewarding opportunities to give back and support our neighbors through volunteer projects that address the real needs of others.
The Togetherhood Team at the Summerville Family YMCA projects include; supply drives for school supplies, Comfort Cases for Foster Children, a food drive benefiting the Lowcountry Food Bank, a pet food drive benefiting Dorchester Paws, and supplies for our “A Place to Dream Bed Project. We have also visited the Lowcountry Food Bank, and Dorchester Paws to Volunteer our time.
Volunteer Opportunities
The Bed Project is a community service initiative dedicated to ensuring that every child in our community has a safe, comfortable place to sleep.
Through generous donations and community support, this program raises funds to purchase beds and bedding essentials for children in need—and then brings volunteers together to assemble and deliver them with care on May 10th.
A good night’s sleep is vital to a child’s well-being, health, and development. Unfortunately, many children in our area go without this basic necessity. The Bed Project aims to change that—one bed at a time.
Every coach in our youth sports leagues is a volunteer, and without them stepping up, these programs simply wouldn’t be possible.
Coaching with the YMCA is about more than teaching the fundamentals of a sport. It’s about being a mentor, a role model, and a source of encouragement for kids as they grow in confidence, teamwork, and character.
Whether you’re an experienced athlete or just someone with a heart for helping youth, you’re welcome here. We provide all the training, resources, and support you’ll need to succeed.
Join the mission to fight hunger and bring hope to thousands across coastal South Carolina by volunteering with Lowcountry Food Bank.
Serving 10 local counties, Lowcountry Food Bank provides consistent access to nutritious food for children, seniors, veterans, and families facing food insecurity.
As a volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in making sure no one in our community goes hungry. From sorting and packing food donations to assisting with meal programs and food distributions, every task you take on directly supports neighbors in need.
Join us on the first Thursday of every month from 9:00am – 12:00pm.
