Volunteer at the Y
Social Responsibility is one of the three areas of the YMCA. It is through the generosity of volunteers that the Summerville Family YMCA is able to give back to our community.
Benefits of Being a Volunteer:
- Experience personal growth
- Give back to their community
- Expand knowledge and skills
- Fulfill community service requirements for school credit
- Develop new relationship
- Gain community service experience
- Learn, grow and HAVE FUN!
All volunteers must complete a volunteer application, background screening and Child Abuse Prevention Training.

Togetherhood has held many collection drives for needed supplies. Because of the generosity of our volunteers we have been able to help foster families, veterans, homeless people, and victims of sex trafficking.
Togetherhood has adopted a program we call “Every Child Deserves a Place to Dream”. With the thanks of the Rotary Club, the Elks Club, and thousands of dollars of personal donations we have been able to give 75 beds to children that would otherwise be sleeping on the floor. The children also receive bedding, a toy, a Bible, and food with the thanks of the Lowcountry Food Bank. With the generosity of hundreds of volunteers we have been able to put smiles on the faces of many children and change their lives.
Togetherhood was able to aid Katie’s Krops at our Oakbrook site by helping to get the gardens ready for the spring.
