Child Development

Childcare

As a benefit for our members, our family centers offer complementary childcare for up to two hours per day while you workout or relax in our facilities. Children are welcome between the ages of six weeks to six years. Staff provide loving care for your little ones giving you peace of mind, giving your children a safe, fun place to play.

For your child’s first visit to our Child Development Center, please visit our Welcome Center to complete a registration form providing background information about your child. To sign your child up, please present the staff with your membership card. This way, we can identify you as the parent or guardian and ensure your child’s safety.

Little Learners Program

The Little Learners Program provides children with the opportunity to learn, laugh and play in a structured setting while growing socially, emotionally and intellectually. Children enjoy a warm atmosphere in which they have the opportunity to engage in themed activities throughout the day. The curriculum of the program includes High Scope Curriculum and YUSA Healthy Me Curriculum. Children also enjoy activities such as yoga, gymnastics, arts and crafts. The 3-5 year olds also go swimming and enjoy weekly field trips.

Homeschool YMCA Physical Education

Homeschoolers will improve their strength, endurance, coordination, balance and energy levels through gymnastics, swimming and fitness activities. In this 8-week program, you can choose two option: Gymnastics (one or two days/week) or Gymnastics and Swimming (two days a week).

After School Care

At the Y, we believe all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. Our After school programs provide a fun, safe place for kids to learn, grow and thrive.

With a focus on safety, health, social growth and academic enrichment, Y After school Programs take place in a caring and encouraging environment at our family centers. We empower youth by providing programming that, in addition to giving them something to do, builds academic and creative abilities. And, our Inclusion programs allow children with special needs to participate in activities alongside their peers and create a mutual sense of belonging. Outdoor Explorers at the YMCA at the Ponds

The Summerville Family YMCA is more than a gym. We strive to help youth in our community grow through our many programs we offer. Enjoy being a part of a program that brings home school students from around the area together.

Our vision is to support children to develop an appreciation for each other and nature, so that they grow into dedicated leaders and environmental stewards in their communities.

The Outdoor Explorers mission is to cultivate curiosity, compassion, and connection with nature. In a time where computer and cell phone use is so prevalent, we believe it’s important to get kids unplugged from technology and reconnected with nature.

Our program is an outdoor based program held on Tuesday and Thursday 10am-2pm. The program is an 8 week session. Classes include P.E., gardening, animal study, exploring outdoors, animal tracking, storytelling, nature skills & crafts, and lots of fun and play!
